Nicole Parente (she/her) has been a licensed Social Worker since 2013 and trained at The Ohio State University. She began her career working in grief and loss with families of children and pregnant families. She has since worked in a variety of settings. Nicole has experience working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, chronic pain, sexual abuse, and trauma. She is also certified as a Fertility Awareness Educator (FAE) and Sexual Health Educator. She has a special interest in working with clients and couples interested in exploring family planning conversations or people seeking to deepen their connection to/and understanding of their sexuality.

Nicole strives to create an environment that feels open, encouraging, and empowering. She likes to use modalities and therapeutic techniques that connect well with you. Some examples of the modalities she uses are journaling, mind-body techniques (like mindfulness or clinical hypnosis), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Nicole likes to encourage her clients to spend time outside of our sessions investing in their growth, so be prepared for her to ask you to spend dedicated time intentionally working on your goals. Together Nicole and you will create a plan that is uniquely designed for your needs.

Nicole strives to be anti-oppressive in therapy. She’s committed to continuously learning how to better serve clients, which requires her to be a lifelong learner. She believes that part of being an anti-oppressive social worker is being an advocate for change at the community and political level. She acknowledges the impact that systemic and political oppression has on individual mental health, and she aims to bring that awareness with her into sessions.
