Joe is currently pursuing a graduate degree in social work with a focus on clinical practice at The Ohio State University.  His undergraduate degree and graduate work previously are from DePaul University in Chicago. There he studied Sociology with a focus on Medical Sociology and the Sociology of Mental Health. During his time at DePaul, Joe worked on advocacy projects with the Department of Community Psychology involving stigmas of mental illness within the academic world.

Professionally, Joe’s experience in the field of social work has been woven into his adult life. Entering the field at a very young age, his primary focus has been on alcohol and substance misuse, childhood trauma, education, and lifestyle changes. Joe has had the honor of working with various institutions around the Columbus area including but not limited to, Maryhaven, St. Vincent Family Services, The Buckeye Ranch, and others.

Clinically, Joe is client-focused but practices with his client’s mindfulness and self-acceptance around lifestyle changes, trauma, and substance abuse.

In his spare time, the art of woodworking and furniture making is primary for his own being. Finding peace in the natural world is key to his own practice of mindfulness and self-acceptance. Working with natural materials such as wood, has allowed him to explore ideas of meditation and mindfulness, of which Joe is extremely passionate about.
