Mary is a licensed independent social worker who values taking a person-centered, strengths-based approach with clients. She believes in the potential that comes from developing a safe and collaborative
therapeutic relationship – when individuals can recognize their capacity to improve their quality of life. She aims to help individuals learn coping skills during what can often be isolating experiences including life transitions and receiving a significant medical diagnosis. In a culture that often denies holding space for grieving, Mary considers it a sacred privilege to accompany those sitting in the discomfort of loss.
Her experience has been on interdisciplinary teams in healthcare settings, serving individuals and families navigating chronic or progressive illnesses. She has facilitated psychoeducational and support groups for individuals living with dementia and their families and has a special interest in the caregiving experience, grief, and loss. Mary attended the University of Dayton as an undergraduate and received her Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago, with a focus on health and aging. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outside, paying attention, reading books, and exploring new places.
